

Q.) How quickly will I be seen?
A.) An appointment is usually made to fit in with your requirements. If you need an appointment urgently every effort will be made to offer one within 48 hours.
Q.) How many sessions will I need?
A.) It should be possible to indicate roughly how many sessions you will need after your initial assessment but a lot can usually be achieved within 6-8 sessions.
Q.) Are appointments weekly?
A.) Yes they are usually once a week, they are then reduced to once a fortnight before being gradually phased down with the option for the occasional follow-up to help you maintain your progress.
Q.) Is my treatment confidential?
A.) Your treatment is carried out in complete confidentiality. Bernadette Ainsworth BA (Hons) MSc. Rational-Emotive & Cognitive Behaviour Therapy is a member of the Association for Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (AREBT) and is accredited with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) and abides by both their codes of ethics.
Q.) Can I bring someone with me?
A.) Yes if it will help the therapeutic process (but please note that there is no immediate waiting area although there are a large number of cafes close by as the practice is in the heart of Covent Garden with all its amenities.
Q.) What happens at the initial consultation?
A.) We discuss the issue at hand and the underlying theories and practice underpinning the treatment in order to establish a strategy and goals for achieving your objective.
Q.) Can I talk to the psychotherapist before they see me?
A.) It is the psychotherapist's usual practice to speak to each client prior to their first session in order to get some background information.
Q.) How successful is the therapy?
A.) This form of therapy is entirely evidence-based with a very high rate of success.
